What are the most interesting facts about this futuristic project?!

We’ve all aware that Saudi Arabia is developing a city of the future called NEOM. However, let’s look at what’s so unique about it.

  • It creates the concept of life in the future: without cars, roads, and pollution
  • NEOM is Saudi’s $500bn worth smart megacity, with a deadline of 2030
  • The city will rely on renewable energy sources and smart technologies
  • It will prioritize the health and happiness of the population, and 95% of the surface will be a nature reserve
  • Located in the north-west of Saudi Arabia, nearby the Egyptian Sharm El-Sheikh
  • All traffic will be carried out “underground” – by high-speed railways
  • Currently developing 15 islands, followed by “the largest marina on Earth”
  • The linear city, 170 km long, is designed to create 380,000 jobs
  • NEOM will consist of three dominant areas – The Line, Trojena and Oxagon

The Line – Mirror facade

The Line is the first and most significant area of NEOM, which connects the Red Sea with the mountains.

The million-dollar city is planned on three levels – one above ground, which would be entirely a pedestrian zone, and two underground – one for supply and maintenance of the city, and the second for public subway transportation between parts of the city.

The metropolis will fit into its surroundings thanks to the mirror-like facade.

Snow Trojena

The Mountain center is not far from Akapa Bay, at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,600 m. It will offer tourists skiing and adventure sports throughout the year.

Thanks to the Trojena 2026 project, SA is the first country in the Middle East to host a winter sports competition, with 32 participating countries.

Oxagon – Floating metropolis

With a planned area of 48 km2, it will become the largest floating structure in the world.

Oxagon, basically conceived as an octagon, will be a port city and at the same time an industrial, business, and scientific center on the Red Sea.

With the maximum use of artificial intelligence – it will be based on the production of hydrogen and the development of modern bio-laboratories, and in the world of civil engineering – modular construction will take a dominant place.

Overview

Let’s consider that Saudi Arabia imports about 80% of its food and obtains almost 50% of its water through desalination. It is hard to believe that the NEOM region will be completely self-sustainable.

It remains to be seen to what extent the Saudi prince’s idea will be realized.
